For Margo... from Nicole Madau on Vimeo.
This video was made by one of our boarders and stars another boarder showing a horse that belongs to a friend. "Blue", the horse had been coming to Courtship several times a week to be schooled by trainer Matt Walsh and friends of Margo, the owner. Margo wished to see Blue compete at a horse show but sadly she was too ill from her cancer treatments to make it to his show. Margo passed away a month ago and Blue has since gone to a great home. Enjoy the video and maybe get a feel of the wonderful people we are blessed to have here.
October saw us re-grading the large arena in preparation for the installation of the new cover. Very exciting to see things moving along at last. Two thirds of the large arena will be covered, an area the size of a full size regulation dressage court. New low dust footing will be installed over the whole arena after all the construction is finished. Check out our Facebook page to see how things are going. Thank you Therese for taking the photographs.
Matt Walsh frightened the little kids on Halloween in his headless horseman costume. Sir Ed didn't seem to mind having to carry him around though!
John St Ryan boarded his stallion Siroco here in August while they were competing at the LAEC. His stallion qualified the first part of the week for the Regional Finals in Doma Vaquera. On Sunday, John modestly stated that he did really well. Really well as in they took the championship. Way to go!
Horse show season is in full swing and as you can tell from the photos the kids are having a great time.

Phil and Dundee parted ways the other day out on the trail. He ended up with a fractured left wrist but that hasn't kept him from riding. While he is mending he has been on Little Man and has been honing his trail trial skills. Note the blue cast in the photo! So now Lyles has been using Dundee as her trail horse and may not give him up easily.
Congratulations to Dane Lawrence on his lovely rides at the Rose Bowl Riders Dressage Show in March. He had some winning test scores on both Woody, owned by Mari Fukuyama, and Gunner, owned by Ingun Littorn.

Thank you Matt for setting up a play day at the ranch and helping everyone teach their horses to negotiate the different obstacles. The horses seemed to have as much fun as the owners and riders did. Most of us erred on the side of caution and walked our horses through the obstacles before riding through them. For more photos of the day go to our gallery or to Matt's website www.northstarfarms@yolasite.com.
Congratulations to owner Beth Sloke and her horse Buffy. Under the guidance of trainer Matt Walsh and rider Kerilee Sullivan, Buffy brought home 2 firsts, 2 seconds and a fifth along with the championship at her first show! Well done gang!
Welcome to new ranch dog, Gringo, who moved in with ranch foreman Juan earlier in March. He sure is a hard worker!
Back in September we could see the Station Fire burning a few miles away at Middle Ranch over our North ridge. We hosted several evacuees who have recently moved back to their rebuilt ranches. Our biggest impact was ash falling for a few days.
Congratulations to our newlyweds Therese and Kevin. It's about time.
